Allens Kitchen & Bath, Where your dreams come home

Cabinetry

2 cabinetsCabinets are the foundation of your kitchen. They give it shape and help give the kitchen its style.

Cabinets come in 3 basic types: stock, semi-custom and custom.

1. Stock cabinets are manufactured in bulk in a variety of standard sizes and colors. They're a good affordable choice.

2. Semi-custom cabinets use better quality materials, are available in a much wider variety and styles, are made to order and fit more precisely than stock cabinets. The manufacturer produces them in predetermined increments. Often a spacer may be needed to conceal unused wall space, and that sacrifices storage. The range of materials, designs, finishes and accessories will not be as broad with semi-custom cabinets, but they cost less than fully custom cabinets.

Kitchen cabinets3. Custom cabinets are built to exact specifications, made from the highest quality materials in many styles and cost more than stock or semi-custom cabinets. They offer endless options with regard to materials, designs, finishes and accessories. Custom cabinets require the longest lead time and are the most expensive choice.

There are 2 main types of construction used for cabinetry: framed cabinets and frameless, or European-style cabinets.

  1. Framed cabinets have a front frame around the cabinet opening. The door attaches to the frame. These are popular in traditional kitchens.
  2. Frameless cabinets have no front frame, so the door attaches directly to the side of the cabinet. With no front frame, there is open access to the cabinet interior. They are often used in contemporary kitchens.

Pantry“Every cabinet can have a specific purpose,” says Daryl Williams of Allen’s Kitchen & Bath. “Depending on your needs, you can customize your cabinets with so many features: pull-out drawers for pots and pans, built-in spice racks, and designated cabinets for trash and recycling, just to name a few. These will really make your kitchen a much more efficient and enjoyable place to cook and entertain.”

Rev-A-Shelf’s “Storage Planner” is a great tool to help you find the items to organize all your kitchen cabinets.

BinsCabinet pulls, knobs and handles – your cabinets’ hardware – are often called the “jewelry” of the home.
